The Diamond Guide

Learn how diamond cut precision, color spectrums, clarity grading, and carat dimensions dictate fire and optical brilliance. Discover why Aurivo’s 100% IGI certified Type IIa lab-grown diamonds represent the future of sustainable fine jewelry.

Scientific Reality

Lab-Grown vs. Mined: Atomically Identical

Lab-grown diamonds are not diamond simulants, cubic zirconias, or moissanites. They are 100% pure crystallized carbon possessing identical chemical, physical, and optical properties to earth-mined diamonds.

The 4Cs of Diamond Quality

Established by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and verified by IGI, the 4Cs determine the rarity, brilliance, and value of every diamond.

The Most Crucial C

Cut Dictates 90% of Optical Sparkle

While nature determines a diamond’s color and clarity, the hand of the master lapidary determines its cut. An Ideal or Excellent cut ensures that light entering through the table bounces internally off pavilion facets and returns straight to the observer’s eye.

Ideal / Excellent Cut (Aurivo Standard)

Angles and depths are cut with millimeter precision. Zero light leakage occurs out of the sides or bottom, yielding maximum white light return (brilliance) and rainbow flashes (fire).

Shallow Cut (Light Leakage)

Light strikes the pavilion facet at a low angle and escapes through the bottom, causing the diamond to appear dull and glassy.

Deep Cut (Nailhead Effect)

Overly heavy in the pavilion, causing light to bounce out the opposite side and creating an unattractive dark center.
